In October 1992, Thomas R. McPhee completed the world's largest known fine emerald carving which is pictured below. The magnificent Colombian emerald, with a final weight of 1,550 carats, is currently valued at $US 1.85 million.
Most people who view this valuable scuplture will never see the beautiful intaglio that the artist has carved on the base. A horse and a jaguar are depicted there, representing the fauna of the Old and the New Worlds.
Captured in this edition is a rare glimspe of that superb hidden treasure. The impression of the intaglio was produced in a very small edition for those who would like a unique work of art form a very rare and valuable original.
