Potrayed here is the satyr, a masterpiece of miniature scupture. The satyr was a sylvan deity of Greek mythology fond of Dionysian revelry. This is a very sensual protrait of masculine power and spirit. As a pre-Christian deity, the satyr is often mistaken for a devil. In Greek times he was an attendant of the god of wine Bacchus, also called Dionysus. As such, setting this in a piece of jewellery with an amethyst would be appropriate. |
